Vector Art is a technique, not a style. However, it is the number one technique used in the graphic design world today. Vector art consists of plotted points and paths created in a vector-based program. The program keeps track of the relationships between these points and paths creating curves, angles, and shapes. These shapes can be scaled to any proportion without losing image quality, filled with colors and gradients, grouped with other objects, and layered on top of each other to give your art depth.
We hold vector art files above all others because of their simplicity, user-friendly handling, and of course the final product. Vector art is ideal for screen printing. The crisp clean edges and defined lines are key to an amazing finish product. When submitting a vector file to us, please remember to convert all of the text to lines or curves. This way there will be no problems regarding missing fonts.
Common vector file types & programs:
.ai, .cdr, .eps, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Freehand, CorelDRAW.
Best uses:
Logos, text, simple art, solid shapes. |

| Be sure to send us raster files as BIG and CLEAR as possible! |
| Unlike vector art, Raster (or Bitmap) art does not use the point plotting method. Instead, the image is made up of tiny squares called pixels which are assigned a very specific color slightly differing from the one next to it. When an image is zoomed in, you can see each individual pixel, but when viewed at 100%, the image becomes a smooth full color photograph. Although not our most preferred type of art, we use raster-based programs to work with photographs, scanned images, and heavily shaded logos and artwork. The programs allow us to go into great detail when working with the images to insure a great and accurate result.
When submitting a raster file to us, it is preferred that the image is at least 250dpi and as large of an image as possible to ensure quality. Larger images can be reduced with no quality loss whereas smaller images become blurry or pixelated when blown to a larger size.
Common raster file types & programs:
.jpg, .png, .tif, .bmp, .gif, Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Paint & other painting programs.
Best uses:
Photographs, high detail/shaded artwork. |
